NTCA is proud to announce that Kamal Merchant of NTCA and Carrollton CC has been admitted as a qualified umpire member of the Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers (ACU&S), an international cricket umpiring body based in the UK. Kamal qualified by a period of intense study of the 42 laws and then passing an extensive written examination and subsequently providing references from 3 persons who have vouched for his on-field capabilities over a period of at least two years. Two of those referees were already qualified umpire members of ACU&S. This is an excellent achievement by Kamal and he is to be complimented on reaching this pinnacle in the umpiring world.
Coincidentally there are 6 qualified umpire members of ACU&S within the USA and North Texas is proud of the fact that 3 of those qualified members are situated and operate in the North Texas Cricket Association. From our 22 locally qualified level 2 umpires, we sincerely hope we can add further names to the ACU&S panel of umpires in NTCA later this year. (Author: John Boaden)
